Wow - what a day!

All praise to Allah - what a lovely Cheadle Mosque Open Day last Saturday.

Cheadle Mosque opened it's doors to the whole community and despite the rain, we had a great time. It was a time of coming together, to enjoy each other's company, to meet and discuss and of course a time to savour some lovely cuisine! There was also plenty of mud - but that simply made the day more fun.

Speeches from the Mayor of Stockport, Cllr Anna Charles-Jones and Mary Robinson - the MP from Cheadle were heart warming and further encouraged our efforts in community cohesion.

We are grateful to all the wonderful people that attended - we hope and pray that you enjoyed the day as much as we did. Also a special thanks to the amazing volunteers, the fantastic stall holders and the super men and women of the fire, police and ambulance services who supported the day. The "thank you's" can go on...there are so many people we are grateful to.

Please see a selection of pictures - more will follow and there is some international video coverage too!

Islam is about sacrifice - sacrificing time, effort and money for the sake of others. We hope that through sacrifice we can ensure others' needs are put above our own and that people around us know that they are valued and are cared for.

Indeed there is no better feeling than when you can bring a smile to someone who is going through a difficult time.

So in this spirit it was wonderful to see the congregation of Cheadle Mosque come together to collect and deliver gifts this Eid for the children's wards at Stepping Hill and Wythenshawe Hospitals. We have been absolutely overwhelmed with the response from the congregation - in fact we have received so many presents - we have enough to also donate to Manchester Children's Hospital too. We have to say a huge thank to all of you that donated. Jazaka'Allah Khairan.

Caring for others is what makes us human. We are therefore humbled by the efforts of the Cheadle Mosque congregration and volunteers in caring and sharing the joy of Eid with others. The following videos and pictures will tell you more....

There is no doubt - Living is about Giving..

Eid Mubarak.

Eid Mubarak to all!

You know us well enough now at Cheadle Mosque that you know we love our food and that we also like to spread a daily bit off happiness - so better way of combining these two "qualities" with our annual Eid Cake Dash.

"Living is about giving" - there is doubt in that and as a wise teacher once said (namely Uncle Zarif) - "Sharing is caring" - he's an expert at these one liners!

So our sprightly volunteer team - wearing their best Eid garb - spot the stylish trainers!, delivered cakes to show gratitude and spread some cheer to those services that work tirelessly 365 days a year to keep our communities strong and safe.

Thank you to all those people - within the police, the fire service, the NHS, the Council and the Charity sector who give and care every single day. We know that there are many others - but we had to start somewhere....

Eid Greetings to everyone from Cheadle Mosque

Lego and Model sets
Puzzles and Jig saws

Cheadle Mosque Eid Open Day Extravaganza.

It's just 2 weeks way..we are getting really excited and just that little bit nervous praying that everything works out well In-sha'Allah (God Willing). The event for us is a celebration of our community, it is about bringing people together, it is about friends and families enjoying each other's company, it is about charity too.

Just to get you in the spirit, allow us to remind you of some of the attractions...

A) We have got donkeys - sorry not ponies as we previously advertised - but they still have four legs and they will take you for a ride!

B) We have Matt and his Go Karts - Matt is such a nice guy - that even if he came without his Go Karts - we would still love to have him.

C) We have talked about the food but let us mention it again - there will be such a variety of foods from around the world - from Pakistan, the Middle East, the UK and Italy (pizza - does that count?)

D) Benny's Water Boats. Benny is quite a character and his boats are just class - I'm gutted that I'm too big to fit into them - but I have offered to be a whale.

E) Creepy Crawly and Animal show. Let's be honest - a lot of us are not good with animals, unless it's a goldfish. So we are doing our bit to encourage human-animal friendships - join us - you might find you will like to have a tarantula as a pet!

We are really looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday 9th September - Doors open at 12pm and there will be lots to entertain you. Failing that - there will be retail therapy : Ladies could purchase an outfit from "Zoya's Eid Collection" or Zaynab's Designer wear, they will be the Halal Sweet shop, a chance to indulge in Syrian sweets, Something from Sunna Skin care.... the list goes on.

We hope you will join us God Willing.

The Cheadle Mosque Eid Open Day Extravaganza is almost upon us - Saturday 9th September is E-Day!

We are really looking forward to welcoming the community - spreading a bit of happiness, bringing people and communities together, challenging negative stereotypes and raising money for local charities.

There will be lots of activities for everyone In-sha'Allah (God Willing). From the fresh Seekh kebab BBQs, to cuisine from around the work, from the Waterboats to the Go Karts, from the Animal shows to the Bouncy slides...to the many different stalls, there will be lots to entertain. But it's also a time to meet, catch up and chat - it brings people closer together.

We are supporting three local charities this year - all the profits from the Open Day will go towards MIND, Diabetes UK and Mcmillian Cancer Care - very worthy charities who are doing great work.

There are always lots of stalls...even a book signing With Sis Sara Khan for her debut book "My first Book about the Qur'an" teaching for toddlers and young children. This will be the first book signing, so please do come along and support her.

We have stalls selling Arabic Groceries, Ice Cream, The Magical Chocolate Fountain, Sweet stalls - always a popular one - (both for children and dentists), Face painting, Henna Designs - the list goes on - we will keep you updated....

Please do join us on Saturday 9th September - doors open at 12pm.

We can't wait - we look forward to hosting you.....

Please note - food on the day may look completely different to those pictured - in our opinion our food will look better In-sha'Allah!!
