Update regarding redevelopment proposals for the Cheadle Mosque and Community Centre, 377 Wilmslow Road, Heald Green
The Cheadle Muslim Association (CMA) are pleased to be able to update you on the latest progress in respect of the redevelopment proposals for a new mosque and community centre.
You may remember that planning permission was approved by Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council (MBC) in November 2017. Since then the CMA have been working with the full project team to refine and improve the buildability of the proposals.
Four Architects, working alongside Zerum (Project Managers), Paul Butler Associates (Planning & Heritage Consultants) and Generation (Development Managers) have reviewed the plans that received planning permission and have worked up improved designs for the site. The new design is as above, further details can be found at : https://www.cheadlemosque.org/downloads
The changes do not propose any increase to the height of the approved buildings, its overall volume or its siting within the site. Rather, the proposals will:
- Re-model the proposed entrance;
- Propose a new finish to the external elevations; and
- Re-configure the internal layout to improve the functionality of these spaces.
The overall prayer space has not been increased upon that previously approved as part of this design review and the same number of parking spaces are proposed.
We are excited about the future of the Cheadle Mosque and Community Centre and appreciate the ongoing support of the local community during this process. If you have any comments or feedback, these can be emailed to by 21st July 2019.
The next step for us will be to submit a revised planning application to Stockport MBC, we hope to submit this in July 2019. Once the planning application has been submitted, Stockport MBC will formally notify neighbours of the proposal, giving the opportunity to view plans and make comments.
