Last weekend, we saw Remembrance services held for those that had fallen in the wars of the last century; their sacrifice must not be forgotten in defeating hate and bigotry. It is of note to see many members of the Greater Manchester Muslim Community standing side by side with all communities in remembrance – a tribute to those soldiers of all faiths (including many, many Muslims) that gave their lives in the name of freedom.
Cheadle Mosque members were honoured to lay wreaths at the services at Cheadle, Wilmslow, Gatley, Alderly Edge and Heald Green (where samosa were offered to those that attended!). In addition our very own Uncle Zarif also was kindly invited to the Stockport Town Hall to read a prayer in remembrance of those lives lost.
This event is also a reminder to us all, that we need to continue to tackle hatred and racism in all it’s forms if we wish avoid a repetition of such tragic events.
